When it comes to moving
your boat along the highways and byways there are some pretty cool
precautions that you can take. One really valuable one is using a
specially designed cover to use when trailing your boat. Trailing boat
covers cover the entire boat including the hull. The biggest advantage
to this is that the dust, dirt, grime, oil and the myriad of things that
can be kicked up by your vehicle or the tires of the trailer itself will
hit the boat cover, protecting the precious gel coat of your boat.
The hours of cleaning, not to mention to mention the scratches and dings that will be spared when using this kind of cover can be very beneficial. After spending more than 20 years in the boat cleaning business, I’m all about ways that would reduce the amount of elbow grease to keep my boat looking sharp. My early days, before being in the yacht maintenance business, were occasionally spent helping my Dad clean up our ski boat after a day down at the stadium. This was a short trip using the trailer and even then, it was sometimes the road grime that gave us the most trouble. Those of you that tow for longer distances are sure to appreciate the trailing boat cover. Most of the boat covers we have seen of this type have been used on small sized boat since, in most cases, it is necessary to work the cover between the runners of the trailer and the hull of the boat. This would require two people even for a small boat. I guess this is where one must decide where to put one’s energy; scrubbing, de-greasing, de-griming and occasional nick repair or buying, lifting and securing a trailing boat cover By the way, these come in two types. One piece - which fits around the entire boat or two-piece - which have separate top and bottom pieces that can be used together or separately. Many on line companies offer this type of boat cover would be a good resource. |
